The NECCSPP brings together competence centres for sustainable public procurement. The focus of this CoP is on networking experts from European competence centres, enabling them to exchange knowledge on sustainable public procurement and on ways to support public buyers in implementing sustainability in their procurements.
Public Buyers Platform
This CoP is part of the Public Buyers Platform of the European Commission. This platform is a unique initiative of DG GROW, the department of the European Commission committed to a strong internal market and responsible for EU directives on public procurement. The platform now has 25 CoPs covering different topics, with a total of more than 2,000 members.
The Public Buyers Platform is in line with the European Commission‘s strategy to make public procurement more strategic in the EU through better cooperation between public procurers, policymakers and other stakeholders. The platform also promotes joint action in sustainable procurement through which DG GROW helps facilitate the implementation of green, socially responsible and circular procurement across Europe.
Benefits of the NECCSPP CoP
This CoP enables the network to foster connections and share valuable news and best practices. It also facilitates targeted discussions on specific challenges and opportunities to improve sustainable public procurement processes in EU Member States, drawing on collective expertise and knowledge.
The CoP is facilitated by the Austrian Platform for sustainable public procurement (naBe) and the German Competence Centre for sustainable public procurement at federal level (KNB). In order to ensure an open and targeted exchange, the NECCSPP CoP is open to sustainable public procurement competence centres from the public sector.
