The webinar, led by COTEC experts, will delve into the forefront of Innovation Procurement (PPI), examining both the current landscape and advanced methodologies for tracking innovation within public procurement across Europe. An ongoing study to assess the situation of PPI in Europe —both at national and regional level — will be presented. COTEC is developing a methodology and a set of indicators that allow to measure the extent to which PPI is being deployed in Europe. Preliminary but very valuable conclusions will be presented and discussed with the participants, including relevant data of the participants´ regions and member states.

Participants will therefore gain valuable insights into national and regional trends in PPI, exploring how data-driven approaches—such as natural language processing and machine learning—can identify innovative elements within procurement processes. By offering a deep analysis of key indicators, procurement patterns, and critical dependency areas, the webinar will provide public procurement professionals with evidence for embedding innovation into procurement practices, thereby promoting competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market.

During this insightful workshop, we will explore:

  • The Current State of Innovation Procurement (PPI) measurement in Europe: Gain a comprehensive overview of national and regional trends and see how different countries are progressing in integrating innovation into public procurement.
  • Advanced Methodologies for Innovation Mapping: Discover cutting-edge natural language processing and machine learning techniques that identify innovative elements in tenders across Europe, overcoming language barriers and adapting to diverse contexts.
  • Key Indicators and Procurement Patterns: Get an in-depth look at crucial data, including the percentage of innovation procurement tenders, the budget allocation, common procedures, and award criteria associated with innovation. And you will be able to contribute with your insights to the final phase of the study.

This workshop is an opportunity to gain insights into innovative procurement, learn from real data, and understand the tools to drive transformative change.
