Description
Public procurement of innovation (PPI) is key to enabling governments to rise to the challenge of promoting sustainable economic growth. PPI enables the public sector to act as an early adopter of innovative solutions that are not yet commercially available. One of the main goals of PPI is to improve the efficiency and quality of public services while promoting innovation as an economic and social driver. As highlighted by the OECD* and the European Commission, public procurement is not only a tool for purchasing goods and services, but also a strategic instrument to foster innovation, improve public service delivery, and contribute to objectives such as climate change mitigation, digital transformation, social inclusion and economic resilience.
