Description
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are an important source of innovation and agility in the European economy. However, despite their creativity, SMEs often face significant obstacles when trying to participate in Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) procedures. These include limited administrative capacity, unfamiliarity with procurement processes, high entry costs and a lack of visibility or access to relevant opportunities. Public sector buyers can play a key role in breaking down these barriers and establishing an ecosystem by encouraging SMEs to participate in PPI. This fosters economic growth and helps to find innovative solutions to pressing public challenges.
