On 19 June, the European Commission adopted a measure under the International Procurement Instrument (IPI) excluding Chinese companies from EU public procurement purchases of medical devices for contracts of a value equal to or exceeding €5 million. This first measure adopted under the IPI seeks to level the playing field for EU firms, as well as to incentivise China to cease its discrimination against EU firms and EU-made medical devices. The Commission remains committed to dialogue with the Chinese authorities. For more information, you can read the Commission press release on the matter, and the Commission Implementing Regulation 2025/1197 of 19 June 2025.
