A growing community – 2 000 members and counting for smarter public procurement across Europe

The Public Buyers Community Platform has reached an important milestone: 2 000 members have joined the platform since its launch in April 2023! 

What began as an initiative supported by DG GROW with the goal of connecting public procurement professionals has rapidly evolved into a dynamic European network with stakeholders from across sectors and countries. Today, the Public Buyers Community Platform hosts members from the EU and beyond, reflecting the growing international interest in strategic, innovative and collaborative public procurement. 

Its members represent a wide range of organisations, including public authorities, academia and research institutions, large companies, NGOs, social economy organisations, trade unions, and more. 

The 27 active communities span sectors as varied as renewables, construction, ICT and healthcare, covering policies such as innovation, sustainability, professionalisation and digitalisation.  Across all these sectors and policy areas, public procurement is increasingly recognised as a powerful tool to support Europe’s strategic agenda.   

Community members can access a rich and continuously growing library of resources, including academic papers, factsheets,  reports, podcasts, webinars, newsletters and other practical materials designed to support informed decision-making and professional development in the field of EU public procurement. 

With the European Commission currently revising the Public Procurement Directives, collaboration among public buyers is becoming more important than ever. In this evolving landscape, the Public Buyers Community will continue to grow with a clear mission: to connect and empower public procurement professionals, foster collaboration and the exchange of market intelligence and expertise, and support the use of public procurement as a driver of digital, green and social transitions.
