Big Buyers Working Together was launched by the European Commission (EISMEA). Eurocities, ICLEI, and BME (as contractors of the European Commission) are currently running the Big Buyers Secretariat.

The Federal Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics e.V. (BME), founded in 1954, is a leading trade association and network partner for purchasing, supply chains and logistics in Germany and Europe. It has 9,750 members in 38 association regions (as of December 2022) - from individual companies to medium-sized companies to corporations - from all industries and sectors.
The Agency implements the European Innovation Council and manages other EU programmes focusing on SME support, innovation and the single market.
