Cross-border procurement challenge: solutions for detection and removal of objects from motorways

objects and debris on motorway

ASECAP is the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures across 19 member countries representing 128 companies. Objects and trash are a safety issue along motorways, as these can lead to dangerous manoeuvres. This challenge is looking for innovative solutions to remove bulky objects along motorways and pieces of trash along roadside.

Your solution is needed by 9th September 2024 the latest. Submissions are possible here: https://www.ioeb-innovationsplattform.at/en/challenges/detail/detection-and-removal-of-objects-on-motorways-and-side-strips/

Challenge Question: What innovative solutions can be employed to help detect and remove large objects lost on the motorway or clean up trash from the roadside?

What are we looking for:

  • Technical solutions that reduce the risks of accidents or dangerous manoeuvres for drivers on the road as well as road workers, which are caused by bulky objects or trash along motorways or side strips.
  • quick identification and disposal of objects and / or trash, which is not intended to be on the motorway
  • reduce time frame to convert a road patrol vehicle into an operational vehicle, that carries out the removal of dangerous objects, using existing adaptor standards.

Timeline: Companies submit their ideas online by 9th September 2024. The jury of this challenge will evaluate the solutions and the winners will be invited to attend the ASECAP Sustainability Forum in Dublin this year.
