2nd edition for Public Buyers

The Procure Innovation EU Training Programme for Public Buyers recently wrapped up a highly successful second edition in Alicante, bringing together procurement professionals from across Europe.

The training kicked off with a session on “Making Innovation Policy” led by Samira Bousseta, which set an inspiring tone for the week. This session focused on the power of innovation policy to influence positive changes, framing it as a critical driver of economic and social progress across the continent. Participants gained a fresh perspective on how policy can serve as a foundation for innovation in the public sector.

Throughout the week, sessions covered a wide array of topics essential for mastering Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI). These included advanced strategies for procurement design, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in public projects, and the process of managing and monitoring PPI initiatives. Each session combined theory with hands-on learning, empowering participants to apply complex principles to real-world scenarios.

Each day introduced participants to best practices from around Europe, providing a rich variety of perspectives. With speakers like Sylvia Israel, Valentina, and Antonio Sánchez Zaplana, participants gained insights into how different countries approach PPI and were inspired to adopt innovative solutions tailored to their own local needs.

The training programme fostered a sense of community and collaboration among public buyers. Through networking, collaborative exercises, and shared experiences, participants built relationships that will continue to support their work in advancing PPI across Europe. As they returned home, they took with them not only new skills but also connections with like-minded professionals who share a commitment to leveraging public procurement for innovation.

With two additional editions planned for 2025, the Procure Innovation EU Training Programme is well on its way to becoming a cornerstone for public buyers committed to innovation in Europe.

Stay tuned for upcoming programme editions aimed at empowering public buyers across Europe to embrace the future of Public Procurement of Innovation!
