SILO, in collaboration with Escuela21, have launched the Procure Innovation EU - Training Programme to foster an internal culture addressed to innovation.
Aligned with the European Commission's objectives to drive markets towards a more competitive, digital, ecological, and social economy, this initiative underscores the strategic power of the public sector. Public procurement accounts for 14% of the EU's GDP, making it a crucial tool for job creation, growth, and innovation. Additionally, innovative public procurement initiatives play a pivotal role in advancing towards a greener and more socially economy by promoting sustainability, fostering technological advancement, and supporting inclusive economic development.
Despite the provisions offering greater flexibility to SMEs in the 2014 Directives, a 2021 Commission study revealed limited SME participation in public procurement, highlighting the need to enhance the capacity of public buyers in formulating balanced selection criteria and facilitating SME access and growth.
The training program offered by Procure Innovation EU addresses to public buyers’ staff and decision-makers to and aims to enhance the professionalization of public procurement.
Through training sessions and support activities, participants will gain comprehensive and cross-cutting knowledge in public procurement, enabling them to better understand and manage procurement processes.
