PPE+ Europe 2024 kicked off its first of four Strategic Procurement Trainings on 4 November 2024 in Vienna (Austria). This inaugural event brought together procurement professionals from various European countries, setting an engaging and collaborative tone for the entire programme.
The event emphasised the importance of professional development in procurement and highlighted how strategic procurement can positively impact public sector efficiency. Furthermore, participants engaged in interactive icebreaker activities here they shared procurement challenges unique to their countries and connected over common interests and experiences. These activities aimed to build a collaborative atmosphere among trainees from diverse professional backgrounds.
Throughout the day, trainees were introduced to the PPE+ program's structure, including essential tools like the Moodle learning management system and the ProcurComp EU competency self-assessment. The PPE+ training schedule, performance expectations, and certification details were also outlined, setting a clear path for participants to maximise their learning outcomes.
The kick-off concluded with a look ahead at upcoming training modules, emphasising opportunities for in-depth exploration of ICT and health procurement, as well as collaborative learning through case studies and consulting support packages. The event provided a strong foundation for participants, equipping them with the tools and connections needed for a successful learning journey in strategic public procurement.
The PPE+ strategic procurement training project is implemented by the Austrian Federal Procurement Agency BBG, ICLEI Europe and EY Romania, on behalf of the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). It offers four comprehensive training programmes, designed to improve the administrative capacity of the staff with key procurement functions in European central purchasing. Participants are encouraged to stay connected through the PPE+ Community of Practice and LinkedIn page, where they can continue to share insights and stay informed about news and events about the training
