Description
Several EDIH expressed interest to work together and share knowledge and experiences on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Public Administrations. This Working Group will allow for discussing the challenges and seize the opportunities that AI brings to advance the digital transformation of public administrations in the EU.
It will facilitate linking the WG to EU initiatives on AI in the public sector (e.g. AI Test and Experimentation Facilities for smart cities, GovTech platform and pilots, AI in the public sector database of use cases, AI-on-demand platform, sandboxing, Big Public Buyers’ Community of Practice focusing on AI procurement, AI registries as well as other European projects and studies, etc.). It will aim to jointly identify EU funding opportunities and access to relevant skills/capacity building programmes. The WG should also seek to identify standards, technical specifications, algorithms as well as appropriate data, so as to foster interoperability and re-usability of AI-enabled solutions in the public sector. The WG should ultimately help the take-up of human-centric, ethical AI in the public sector and contribute to the creation of a European GovTech market.
The first online meeting of this group will be held on 28/04 at 14:00 with the following agenda:
- Introduction by the Commission and presentation of the main objectives of the working group
- Round table introduction of the members of the working group
- Current activities of the Commission on AI in public administrations:
- From policy perspective: Interoperable Europe Act, Berlin Declaration, AI Coordinated Plan
- Analysing trends and observatory (AI Watch, Tech4Gov Watch, IOP4AI and AI4IOP, etc.)
- GovTech (platform and incubator)
- Supporting take-up of AI (capacity building and skills and trustworthy / ethical AI)
- Open discussion and ideas for themes
- Agree on the roles and collaboration means (including appointment of a WG moderator)
- Any other business
