The latest meeting of the Commission Government Experts Group on Public Procurement (EXPP) was convened on 30 May 2024 in Brussels to address critical topics shaping the future of public procurement within the EU. The EXPP is established to advise the Commission on its policy on public procurement. It is composed of government representatives from all EU MS.
The meeting represented an important opportunity to brainstorm on the follow-up to the European Court of Auditors’ (ECA) report on public procurement, the report on the future of the Single market by Mr Enrico Letta and the recently adopted Council Conclusions on the ECA report.
Key items on the agenda included discussions on future priorities and developments in public procurement, the importance of data collection and quality, and the analysis of the root causes of lack of competition. The meeting also provided a platform for Member States to share their experiences as to the analysis of the lack of competition carried out at national level.
The meeting featured interventions from prominent external speakers that were invited to provide additional insights and perspectives on the discussed topics, by bringing in expertise from academia, public administrations, industry, and international organizations.
