On February 22nd, the Public Procurement Unit of DG GROW, the DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of the European Commission, has kicked off a new initiative: the 'Procurement Dialogues'.

The aim of the project is to organise workshops in all 27 Member States to create a dialogue between stakeholders on the use of public procurement as a strategic lever for innovative and sustainable public policy development. It also aims to understand the current strategic use of public procurement in each of the 27 Member States, identify existing barriers and potential solutions to the strategic use of public procurement, cooperate with local stakeholders to prepare a roadmap for the development of strategic public procurement.

In doing so, the dialogues will unlock the full potential of public buyers to add value in the context of national and European policy objectives, and encourage coordination and cooperation at the European level to create the necessary synergies among Member States. There is also little information on the uptake of strategic procurement and the dialogues will help to fill this gap and provide evidence for future policy development.

The first step of the project will be a one-hour Webex webinar talking place on the 11th of May, which will present the main activities planned, how key stakeholders will be involved in the process and what their involvement will be in the project implementation and organisation of the Member State workshops.

You can register for the webinar HERE. You will receive an invitation to participate online upon registration.
